A COUNTRY I WOULD LIKE TO VISIT

        


I've always been a person who loves to travel. I really love meeting new places, new cultures and people who have different points of view.

I especially like the beaches for its relaxing atmosphere (at least for me), and I like to swim. There are so many Countries that I would like to visit, but in this case I choose Cyprus.

Cyprus is an island in the Mediterranean, located south of Turkey, west of Syria and Lebanon, north of Israel, the Palestinian region of the Gaza Strip and Egypt, and southeast of Greece. 

As we can see, Cyprus has a great cultural diversity. It is mainly composed of Greeks (78%), while about 18% of the population are Turkish. Nicosia is its capital, which is divided in two. The southern part of Nicosia is Greek and the northern part is mainly inhabited by Turkish Cypriots. On top of that, the Turks have proclaimed an independent state called the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, which is only recognized by Turkey. So somehow you could say I would really visit two countries!
      

Cyprus is the third largest island in the Mediterranean Sea and its beaches are absolutely amazing. A crystal clear sea along with clean beaches, its like Paradise. It's specially for people who like to relax listening to the waves, swim or just lie on the sand. The most popular beaches are those of Ayia Napa, but the most interesting is Paphos with the famous "Rock of Aphrodite". A Greek Legend says that the birth of the Greek goddess occurred exactly on this beach.


     

The history of Cyprus is more than 10,000 years old and many monuments are witnesses to its cultural change. This is very interesting for me. I would visit the Cyprus Museum in the capital, Nicosia. The museum has a collection of objects dating back to the Neolithic and Byzantine eras. Also the ancient Greek ruins such as Amathus and Korion in Limassol and the ancient Turkish mosques.
